As entertaining as the other bouts (mostly) were, this was a one-match show, as Sami Zayn and Rhyno duked it out in a hard-hitting, physically draining main event. Rhyno has been tearing through the roster of late, looking every inch the barrel full of dangerous meat that he ever did. WWE were wise to bring him in to enhance Zayn. Watching Zayn receive clotheslines and shoulder tackles on the same level of physical intensity that he received from Kevin Owens, brought back recent memories. Watching Zayn blink the pain away, giddy on his feet, was highly reminiscent of the brutal beating he suffered at NXT: Rival, and made this a mini-story of redemption. Zayn is a master at telling this type of story, and watching him hurl himself over the ropes, hit a blue thunder bomb and finally counter the Gore with a Helluva Kick, it was hard not to share his feelings of triumph. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjRtAI4zFRA While this week's NXT would have benefited from more of a sense of occasion and importance, and by stripping away some of the more predictable match-ups, it's reassuring to know that stories are moving forward. It feels like the pieces are all falling into place for another NXT special, one that no right-thinking fan of pure wrestling should even think of missing.
