5 Ups And 5 Downs From NXT TakeOver: WarGames

4. A Tasty Black - Velvet Cake

Aleister Black Velveteen Dream NXT War Games
WWE

Aleister Black's thrilling victory over Velveteen Dream perfectly embodied NXT at its finest. It had all the heart-racing spots you'd expect of the independent scene but with none of the absent psychology, underpinned by simple, effective storytelling which made absolute sense from start to finish. The mind games which saw both men sitting cross-legged in the middle of the ring, not to mention Dream's continuous teases and taunts, brought it to another level of brilliance. The Dutchman's satisfying concluding promo was just the icing on this Black-Velvet cake.

And let's take a few seconds to talk about how awesome Velveteen Dream is. The man wore Rick Rude pants for Christ's sake! That alone would have put this match in the up column before the bell had even rang.
