WWE loves to hold itself up as a pseudo-sport when it comes to using statistics to make events, matches and accomplishments look more impressive. We get the number of minutes someone participated in a match, how many days they’ve held a title, etc.

Monday, Michael Cole tried to use numbers to boost his commentary, and he failed pretty badly twice.

While noting that five of the seven men in the Elimination Chamber have never participated in such a match before, Cole commented that Triple H has competed in the most chamber matches. Not true. Chris Jericho has entered eight chamber matches, while Triple H is tied for second with John Cena and Randy Orton with six bouts. Just flat-out wrong.

And earlier, Cole called Sunday’s seven-man chamber match the “biggest in history” because of the number of men entering what normally holds six wrestlers. The problem is that we just had a tag team Elimination Chamber match in 2015, with 13 wrestlers competing (or nearly twice the number of men in Sunday’s contest.
