Points to WWE for trying something different with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin Monday night, but having him read a bunch of lame jokes off cue cards was definitely a miss.

Austin showed up on Raw to celebrate 3:16 Day, which was a cute bit of marketing that surprisingly WWE has not really taken advantage of in years past. But instead of him reminiscing, reviewing old clips, bringing out past adversaries or setting up a WrestleMania feud between other wrestlers, he assumed a late-night talk show host persona, reading jokes and asking Byron Saxton to rate them with giant number cards.

It wasn’t terrible, but the jokes were lame, and it really was just something to fill 10 minutes at the end of Raw, with no lasting impact or memorable moment until the last two minutes.
