5 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE Roadblock: End Of The Line
5. Cruiserweights Flounder
It’s been said before, but for all of WCW’s flaws, at least its cruiserweight division allowed the wrestlers to show off their skills and flourish. They might not have really had much of a chance to ascend the ladder, but they had a showcase.
In WWE, the cruiserweights have gotten their own show on the WWE Network, but that hasn’t translated into an improvement in their treatment on the main roster. Case in point, the triple threat WWE Cruiserweight Championship match between TJ Perkins, Rich Swann and Brian Kendrick. The three men all are very accomplished and have shown that they’re capable of captivating a crowd.
But Sunday’s match was anything but. It was brief, with basic moves that many on the roster use regularly. There was nothing that made it stand out. It was bad enough that the crowd chanted, “Thank you Neville!” when the former NXT Champion assaulted TJP and Swann afterward.
Something needs to change, but unless Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn suddenly step aside, that isn’t likely to happen anytime soon.
