5 Ups And 6 Downs From WWE Roadblock: End Of The Line

Ups...

5. Thank You New Day

Let’s take a minute and give some credit to New Day’s record-setting tag title reign. Yes, we all know it’s predetermined and that this record had the benefit of wiping Demolition (and more specifically, Bill “Ax” Eadie) off the books, but still, 483 days is a hell of a run.

New Day won the tag title for the second time back at SummerSlam 2015, toppling the Prime Time Players, who had beaten New Day earlier that summer. Since then New Day has taken on all comers, sometimes using questionable tactics, other times just outright out-wrestling their opponents. They turned from heel to face during this time, moved a ton of merchandise, and turned a trombone into a common ringside presence.

The trio probably had run its course as champs a couple months ago, but they managed to hold on as they were getting close to Demolition’s all-time record. Call it recognition for the group sometimes being the most (or even only) truly entertaining part of Raw during some weeks.

Kudos to Kofi Kingston, Big E and Xavier Woods. Here’s hoping there’s some more good stuff in your WWE futures.
