5 Ups And 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (June 11)

4. Cool Visual, No Purpose

One of the most overused tropes in WWE is the pointing at the WrestleMania sign ad nauseum every January-March. It’s aggravating after a while.

Well, we can add something new to that list: pointing at the Money in the Bank briefcases and/or sitting on ladders or climbing them to “retrieve” a briefcase. It’s a purely symbolic move that means absolutely nothing. The same could be said about how Raw opened Monday night, with all eight MITB entrants standing on ladders to deliver promos at each other.

It eventually broke down to everyone talking over each other, so Alexa Bliss just screamed to get them to stop. Then it started up again, so Braun Strowman growled to get in the last word. And that was it. Everyone hung out on ladders in the ring to give promos… why?

Shawn Michaels, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and the Undertaker never would have opened Raw sitting on ladders in the ring together like that. It might have seemed like a cool visual, but they all looked like goofs when you got down to it.
