God bless Austin Aries and Neville, who together have made their match for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship look like a really important bout instead of some throwaway scuffle on the kickoff show.

The Cruiserweight title was looking more and more like an afterthought on Raw before Neville returned, with the belt being traded between TJ Perkins, Brian Kendrick and Rich Swann in a short span. Neville has managed to elevate the title (and as a result, the entire division), and Aries is the perfect foil heading into WrestleMania.

During Aries’ match against Noam Dar, Neville railed against his opponent on commentary. And Aries made sure to jab his finger at Neville before applying the Last Chancery to Dar for the tapout win. Their staredown afterward only added to the tension. Then after Neville’s convincing win against Jack Gallagher, A-Double did some investigative journalism and found that New Day backs him.

It might not be a main event, but it’s a simple feud that works, and hopefully the match will also deliver.
