5. Dumb Things Announcers Say

We’ll chalk this one up to Vince McMahon’s rantings into the headsets.

During the match between Ricochet and Baron Corbin, Corey Graves attempted to cast doubt on Ricochet’s chances in the Money in the Bank ladder match by noting that he might know what he signed up for, but he hasn’t experienced it. Graves went on to point out that Corbin, Braun Strowman and Randy Orton have all participated in the match before.

Except… it’s a ladder match. A simple ladder match, only instead of a title hanging above the ring, it’s a briefcase. Nearly every well-traveled wrestler has participated in one before. In fact, Ricochet’s debut NXT match was a damn ladder match for the NXT North American Championship.

If we were talking a TLC match, or Hell in a Cell, or even Royal Rumble, then sure, talk about the uniqueness of competing in said bout. But stop insulting fans’ intelligence by acting like a ladder match is a foreign concept, especially when the wrestler has competed in one in your own company.

He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
