5 Ups And 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (May 13)

4. Roman Spinning His Wheels

Here’s where WWE missed an opportunity to tell a real story and make this work.

Roman Reigns facing Elias at Money in the Bank is a mismatch. Elias, as Reigns pointed out, hasn’t won anything in his time in WWE. Meanwhile, Roman has toppled Brock Lesnar, Undertaker, John Cena and a host of others.

When Reigns returned from battling leukemia, WWE thrust him right back into action in a Shield farewell, then had him face Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania in a disappointing match. Instead, they could have had him announce that he wasn’t up to full strength and had to work his way back into fighting shape.

Then, facing someone like Elias would feel more natural as Roman works on a redemption tour back to the top of the card.

Sure, Reigns can’t always fight top guys every month, and it’s nice to see Elias get some shine with The Big Dog, but this just feels like a big waste of time, with Roman not in any danger of losing.

He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
