5 Ups And 7 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (May 13)

Ups...

5. Simple, Consistent Build Works

The first-ever-in-WWE match between Seth Rollins and AJ Styles should feel like a big deal, but it simply doesn’t, which is a shame.

But, that being said, Monday’s dueling interviews and video promo for their WWE Universal Championship match was pretty good, with Styles explaining his desire to continue proving that WWE is his house, not just SmackDown, and Rollins wanting to prove that he’s the backbone of Raw.

Even better, Rollins noted that while this will be their first singles match in WWE, they had faced each other once before, 13 years ago (Seth said “15”) – and then they cut to footage of them facing off in NWA No Limits in 2006.

Now that is something WWE should be doing more often when they’re trying to sell history between wrestlers. It just added a little something to an otherwise solid but unmemorable promo.
