5 Ups And 7 Downs From WWE Money In The Bank 2017

3. Lack Of Leadership

As bad as the ending of the women’s Money in the Bank Ladder match was, one glaring omission was the fact that the referees conferred for several moments, clearly disagreeing… and nothing.

Where was Commissioner Shane McMahon? The refs very clearly weren’t in agreement about whether James Ellsworth retrieving the briefcase should count, which opened the door for Shane or Bryan to waltz out and restart the match. In fact, this writer was waiting for it to happen, only for nothing to change.

Oh sure, both Shane and GM Daniel Bryan sounded off on Twitter, but tweets don’t substitute for taking action. For all the talk about a historic match and everything, for the leaders of the SmackDown brand to let that stand, that’s just piss-poor leadership. Or lack thereof.
