5 Ups And 7 Downs From WWE Raw (Feb 7)
2. How Is She Still A Superhero?
Can someone explain why Nikki A.S.H. is still wearing her superhero getup while wrestling more and more like the Nikki Cross from SAnitY?
Monday’s match against Bianca Belair featured the closest Nikki has gotten to her former crazed persona as she snarled and yelled while swinging wildly at her opponent and used the ring apron to her advantage. But the whole time she did all this, she was still wearing her butterfly mask and yellow-and-blue tights.
When Nikki turned heel, this column suggested that a Joker-esque character turn could work, with her costume becoming more dishevelled and warped as her personality changed. It would be a bit meta for WWE, but it could have worked. Instead, we’re getting the same physical presentation with a different wrestling style, making it really incongruous.
She’s not even really playing up the superhero aspect of her character as much, which is really a shame after attacking Mighty Molly just nine nights early at Royal Rumble – which, by the way, was a really easy thread to pick up since Molly Holly works for WWE, and they’ve decided to completely ignore.
