5 Ups And 8 Downs From Last Night's WWE Raw (Nov 4)
6. Tag Team Champs Job
Some days, this writer thinks WWE should just abolish all championships, because the company clearly doesn’t know how to book the vast majority of their champs.
Title-holders are allegedly the best in their division (world, secondary, tag, etc.), yet WWE champions tend to lose “meaningless” matches far too often, making you wonder how they got and keep the titles in the first place. (Imagine Tyson Fury winning a boxing title and then losing a bunch of non-title matches. Would he be as big a star as he is today?)
Monday, we saw the Women’s Tag Team Champions the Kabuki Warriors get dominated by Charlotte Flair & Natalya, with Charlotte especially running roughshod over the champs. Now seeing Flair, a 10-time women’s champion, beat up tag champs might make sense if you were talking about the IIconics (who lost to Flair and Neidhart last week), but this was Asuka & Kairi Sane, both former singles champs with impressive resumes.
Losing a non-title match was bad enough, but we could give it a pass. Losing in such a fashion where the faces dominated and then won just makes your heel champions look completely useless.
