5 Ups And 9 Downs From WWE Hell In A Cell 2019

3. This Is Leading Somewhere Dark, Right?

For the past couple months, Bayley has occupied this weird space where she acts heelish but still dresses the same and professes to a role model to all the fans. She still has her wacky inflatable tube men and side ponytail.

Sunday, Bayley lost her SmackDown Women’s Championship to the undeserving (in her mind) Charlotte Flair, leaving the Huggable One sitting on the floor in disbelief. Bayley could be heard melting down and yelling, “Why does it always have to happen to me?” as she sobbed.

The only way this makes sense is if we’re finally getting past this interim period and having Bayley ditch the bright wrestling tights, the tube men, the side ponytail and the bright, happy music. It’s far past time for her to do what Io Shirai did in NXT and reinvent herself. Maybe it doesn’t need to be as drastic as Shirai, but this mini-meltdown has to lead to Bayley changing things up, right?

Otherwise, it was just the former champ whining as fans chanted, “You tapped out!” at her. If she shows up on SmackDown in jeans and a black jacket with her hair down, then we’re getting somewhere.
