5 Ups And 9 Downs From WWE Super Showdown 2019

4. A Methodical Pace

The encounter between Triple H and Randy Orton was far from the “epic” match the announcers sold, but it had its charm.

Some will consider it too sluggish and plodding, but the match was actually an interesting twist on the usual “throw a bunch of haymakers and bombs” for 20 minutes. Orton and Helmsley traded blows and exchanged their signature moves, but they also sprinkled in some basic grappling. It was like a house show main event, eating up time but still carrying a big match feel.

While it won’t make a greatest hits collection, it was good enough to get passing marks here, but that really was about it. It also was saved by Orton, the fulltime active wrestler in the match, winning the battle.
