5 Ups And 9 Downs From WWE Super Showdown 2019
1. Payback Via Chairshot
While we got yet another bait-and-switch Money in the Bank cash-in at Super Showdown, We’ll give this one positive marks because of how it came (or better yet, didn’t come) about.
Brock Lesnar came out after Seth Rollins was down and looked ready to cash in. He climbed into the ring with steel chair in hand, and his manager Paul Heyman followed. What happened next turned things sideways.
Heyman tripped and dropped the MITB briefcase, causing Lesnar to freeze for a few seconds. Rollins took advantage and hit a low blow (the contract had not been cashed in yet) and proceeded to unload with steel chairshots repeatedly before hitting a Stomp on the briefcase. This was a pretty clear callback to Raw on Monday, where Brock waffled Seth with a chair several times.
Rollins then left the ring with title in hand, while Brock was still dazed and bruised. Sure, WWE once again “lied” to fans, but this time, it was Rollins outsmarting his opponent and retaining his title rather than a heelish bait-and-switch routine again.
