WWE’s track record with bringing superstars back from extended hiatuses is getting worse by the month.

First they brought Kevin Owens back from injury, rushed him into a world title match against Daniel Bryan, kept him off WrestleMania 35, then turned him heel to lose to Kofi Kingston twice. Now, Dolph Ziggler was abruptly brought back after one appearance since December so he could lose in 10 minutes to Kingston.

No one’s advocating for Ziggler to win the WWE Championship, but it just makes it far less special when someone comes back, is immediately thrust into a world title match and loses. Why did we need to have Dolph come back to fill that spot? Was it really necessary? Rusev, Shinsuke Nakamura or even Buddy Murphy could have filled the challenger slot for one night.

But hey, it’s not our company.
