5 Valets Who Overshadowed Their Wrestlers (& 5 Who Complemented Them)
2. Complimented: Lana With Rusev
Rusev and Lana are one of the more recent valet-wrestler tandems to find success in WWE. The Rocky IV-based Russian gimmick worked well and provided a nice launching point for both their careers with the company.
Though her Russian accent leaves a bit to be desired, Lana's anti-American promos did a nice job in helping to establish the Rusev character. In fact, during his undefeated streak, Rusev was well on his way to becoming a main event heel. However, following his loss to John Cena at WrestleMania 31, Rusev lost a lot of the momentum the two were able to build.
Still, their beauty and the beast dynamic definitely worked. Despite the fact that Lana is a very attractive young woman, Rusev has always felt like the focal point when the two work together.
Rusev and Lana are yet another example of a real-life married couple who have success as an on-screen duo and been able to find a nice balance in the process.
