5 Ways AEW Is Appealing To Millennials (And 5 Ways It’s Failing)

9. Appealing - Better Understanding Of How To Use Social Media

While WWE have put out some excellent shoulder material on both their YouTube channel and the WWE Network in recent years - material which has allowed fans to get inside the head of the performers behind the characters - their biggest failing is that this is rarely if ever translated to TV. After all, if we’re just going by what happens on Raw, what do we actually know about the likes of Ricochet or Liv Morgan?

AEW on the other hand, understanding the role the internet plays with the younger generation, have been able to use platforms such as Being The Elite to build new stars while also letting other performers such as Sammy Guevara build their own brand on their YouTube channels.

But more importantly than that, they’ve been able to translate this over the TV, with the online cult status of figures like John Silver and, more recently, Hook carrying over to Dynamite and Rampage every week, giving any fans who started watching online a reason to tune in on Wednesdays and Fridays too.
