5 Ways AEW Is More Effective With Their Roster Than WWE

3. Tony Khan Knows His Role Better Than Vince McMahon

AEW Vs WWE
AEW

One of the biggest reasons AEW has been more successful than WWE at presenting wrestlers and telling stories is Tony Khan's understanding of his role as AEW CEO. While Khan has stated he does have the final say in creative and production, the AEW President knows that he has some of the industry's most prolific storytellers in his writing room. How many times have stories broke about Vince McMahon arriving at the venue for a live taping and shredding the script before re-writing it by himself?

For the most part, Khan has stayed in the background, using his propensity for analytics to help shape the men's and women's title picture. It would have been easy enough for Khan to insert himself onto AEW Dynamite, as some sort of authority figure, but it seems he has resisted any impulse he might have for the spotlight, restricting himself to interviews after pay-per-view events and whatever you want to call this.

While McMahon maintains an autocracy when it comes to decisions about WWE creative, Khan has trusted that his writing team will be able to work with AEW wrestlers to help get them over. Khan has demonstrated a willingness to defer to his Executive Vice-Presidents and a commitment to allowing talent to script their own promos.
