5 Wrestlers Who Could Be AEW's MAJOR Mystery Signing

AEW promotes wrestling legends with a careful, affectionate economy. They do not overwhelm the show at all. They accentuate it.

Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard cut incredible, timeless promos without being front-and-centre spokesmen for their respective charges. Jake Roberts has receded in importance, but it was still effective, watching the old school DDT innovator and gatekeeper reacting to Fénix's aerials with awe. Sting is exceptional at subtly putting Darby Allin over as his protector as much as it is the case the other way 'round. Tony Schiavone is the living embodiment of wholesome nostalgia. Jim Ross is...a bit of a sexist, but he can still summon the old fire when there's a match worked to his tastes.

But there's no such legendary figure that lends the Women's division that crucial thread of gravitas - and that's where Trish Stratus might just step in. She could play a role similar to that of Paul Wight, mentoring the women, acting as an ambassador, and, when the right opponent materialises - and that opponent is Dr. Britt Baker - putting a star female over in a marquee match designed to give her the all-important rub.

AEW has made strong moves to improve the division of late. An investment like this will go very far in establishing elusive parity.
