5 Wrestlers Who Regretted Inventing Wrestling Moves

3. Ryback - Triple Powerbomb

The Shield, though now seemingly permanently shattered by the Universal ascension of Seth Rollins, and more importantly, the exit of Dean Ambrose, will always be remembered for their iconic triple power bomb.

Although the impression it should logically have given was that the sweatered trio were individually feeble, fans nevertheless bought into the intended image of vigilante viciousness, and the move became one of the most celebrated parts of their act.

As important as it was, interestingly it wasn't invented by The Shield themselves. Just as CM Punk takes credit for devising the triumvirate of justice, so too does Ryback - yes, Ryback - lay claim to innovating the triple powerbomb.

According to the perennially famished Big Guy, the new faction needed an eye-catching combo move. He suggested a variation on his own powerbomb - and almost immediately wished he hadn't.

"Goddamnit did I regret ever f*cking saying that," Ryback revealed during 2017 episode of his podcast. "I received more triple powerbombs than anybody on the roster at that point. And they were all fine, but they triple powerbombed me through the table at the end of that one. And then, they did it in the match at TLC."

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
