5 Wrestling Dream Matches That Make Perfect Sense (And 5 That Don't)

2. DO - The Golden Lovers Vs Hangman Page & Hiroshi Tanahashi

The Fiend Doink
NJPW

As much a celebration of a potential bond between NJPW and AEW, this feels like a match some of the key components are building to even if none of them ever work together again.

Hangman Page and Kenny Omega find themselves at a dispiriting crossroads since losing the Tag Team Championships to FTR amidst turmoil in The Elite. Page is steeped in regret for how things have turned out for all of them, but Omega has seen it as a chance to return to singles competition. Meanwhile in New Japan, Hiroshi Tanahashi is struggling to physically keep up with his partner Kota Ibushi, with their master-and-apprentice relationship fraying at the edges since Ibushi signed a "lifetime" contract with the company, choosing the real lifer in 'The Ace' over going with Omega to All Elite Wrestling.

The real relationship amongst all this turmoil is the one between The Golden Lovers, but the idea of the two coming together with rage and spite instead of affection is as tantalising as the prospect of Tanahashi embracing some "cowboy sh*t" alongside Hangman.

If the companies coming together this happens. Until then, career curator Omega almost certainly won't let the idea lie or die.
