5 WWE NXT Wrestlers Ready For The Main Roster (And 5 Who Should Stay Put)
3. Stay Put - Kyle O'Reilly
Right off the bat, Kyle O’Reilly is great. His in-ring style is fluid and fierce, and on an NXT-sized stage he feels legitimate. He also has a great comic touch in his performance, sells like a thespian, and looks and carries himself differently from anyone else.
In the land of the giants, though, O’Reilly would simply disappear. He’s refreshingly gimmickless, but it’s hard not to imagine that working against him on the grand stage. In spite of all his undeniable upside, Vince would undoubtedly see him as too small, too bland, lacking in razzle-dazzle.
Worse still, the bookers could harness his commendable lightness of touch and turn him into one of the comedy dweebs that they somehow still can’t get enough of. Kyle O’Reilly, BJJ veteran and bonafide submissions wrestler, chasing R Truth around for the 24/7 belt - it doesn’t bear thinking about.
What’s more, O’Reilly’s elevation to the NXT main event hasn’t quite worked, his feud with Cole lacking something and his status as a top draw slightly in question. Triple H arguably hasn’t quite figured out Kyle the singles superstar, but at least he’s trying. In the main roster, he’d be wasted worse than Ricochet.
