5 WWE Wrestlers Who SHOULD Have Dethroned Roman Reigns (And 5 Who Still Could)

Should Have Won...

5. Kevin Owens

Very early in Roman Reigns’ historic title run, he faced off against Kevin Owens in a trio of hard-hitting matches that would firmly establish him as champion, while at the same time setting the template for his defenses: Uso interference to preserve the title reign.

Reigns defeated KO at TLC 2020, a December episode of SmackDown, and then Royal Rumble 2021 in a wild brawl that spanned the entire ThunderDome.

A smart – and very possible – play here would have been to hotshot the title to Owens on SmackDown, setting the table for Reigns to regain the championship at Royal Rumble. WWE could have booked KO taking Jey out before the SmackDown bout, which then would open the door to Uso saving the day weeks later.

In hindsight, this would have broken up this very lengthy reign, but it also would have given hope to future challengers that Roman in this current persona could be beaten. And Owens’ quest to topple the Bloodline recently would have carried a bit more weight.
