5 WWE Wrestlers Who SHOULD Have Dethroned Roman Reigns (And 5 Who Still Could)

4. Daniel Bryan

Immediately after Kevin Owens’ trifecta of title matches, Roman Reigns moved on to facing Daniel Bryan at three straight PLEs.

At this stage, we were still less than a year into Roman’s championship run, though he was clearly being presented as a dominant champ. But Bryan was Bryan. Similar to the Owens hypothetical, it wouldn’t have been unfathomable to see D-Bry unseat Reigns at Fastlane 2021, then lose the title back to Roman at WrestleMania 37. You still would do the triple threat, with Royal Rumble winner Edge guaranteed a title shot against defending champ Bryan, with Roman demanding a rematch.

Imagine the visual of underdog champion Bryan and fan favorite Edge getting stack pinned by Reigns at Mania, making a dramatic statement that he would not be denied the Universal Championship, and that even WWE’s most popular superstars could stop him.

Additionally, this would have given WWE the WrestleMania moment of Roman’s victory, which would have been a massive title switch. Plus, Reigns still would be in the middle of a two-year run with the title right now.
