There's a full circle vibe to the penultimate Sting vs. Ric Flair match (TNA ran a re-run in 2011) on the final Nitro. That 26 March 2001 episode became notable for the simulcast shenanigans involving the McMahon family, but WCW managed to give the Stinger and 'Nature Boy' one more whirl before cameras faded to black on their flagship for one last time.

What a blessing it was to witness this, although it's fair to say Flair wasn't exactly feeling himself. Low on confidence, the legend wasn't sold on his physique at all. So, Ric wore a t-shirt for the duration before putting one of his favourite opponents over and shaking hands with him as Nitro kissed goodbye to the Monday night crowds.

Reportedly, at least according to Bruce Prichard, this was a match WWE officials wanted to see. If that's true, then it shows there was some respect towards what WCW had accomplished over the years. Going out with such an iconic battle between two men who meant so much to the product was cool, in fairness.

It'd take a while, but Flair found his mojo again in WWE.
