50 Best WCW Moments Ever
17. DDP Says Nw-NO!
Diamond Dallas Page becoming the next cool customer to take the nWo colours and pledge his allegiance to the anti-WCW movement made perfect sense when the company teased it on 13 January 1997. After all, Page had the aura of a New World Order lieutenant already, and he'd only grow in stature next to Scott Hall and Kevin Nash if given the chance.
It was all a swerve, people.
DDP took the nWo t-shirt with a smile on his face, and The Outsiders were over the moon that he'd agreed to join up with their promotion-wide rebellion. One Diamond Cutter later and Page was firmly 'Team WCW' again. This began his slow burn push towards becoming one of the biggest and most organic babyfaces in the entire company.
Do yourself a favour. Put aside some time to watch DDP's growth from slightly awkward and gangly lower-card act to genuine megastar. His ascent between 1996-1998 and even into 1999 was special. You can even strip it back to the period between 1996-1997 if you're shorter on free time and just want to see how it all started for Page as a babyface hype train.
