Birthplace: Sandy, Utah Of course The Sandman, with all of his alcohol consumption, chain smoking, partaking in drugs and tales of "ring rat" debauchery, is from Mormon-heavy Utah. Of course. Where else would he be from? He was able to become one of ECW's biggest stars, even though he would be the first to admit that his in-ring skills weren't exactly on a world class level. He represented the counter-culture that ECW was aiming for, and fans could see him as one of them, instead of a jacked-up cartoon character like many wrestlers were at the time. Obviously, he was never able to have anywhere near the same level of success outside of ECW, but he wrestled for WCW, WWE and TNA, so he was successfully able to parlay his ECW days into more contracts and more money, so kudos to him.
