50 Funniest Wrestling Moments Of 2023

40. Matt Cardona Runs

Matt Cardona Vs. a raccoon went about as well as Zack Ryder Vs. WWE Creative. When trying to let an errant mammal out of a trap, he panicked, unsettled the animal, and sprinted back into his house faster than his AEW run. The man may have reinvented himself as a piss-funny deathmatch interloper, but he was useless in this domestic situation.

Luckily for him - in a superb punchline tweeted by his wife - Chelsea Green was far more calm at freeing the animal with a minimum of fuss.

39. Tyrus Still Sucks, In Case You Were Wondering

Now, this spot was designed to tell the story of EC3 agonising over the reality of retiring his close friend Tyrus. He attempted to convey his inner conflict, and did so sat on a chair, but it's funnier to think that Tyrus just needed to lie down. Because he has the cardiovascular conditioning of Henry Kissinger.

It's not all bad news for Tyrus: to his credit, he's actually better at blowing himself up than Atsushi Onita.

38. Dax Harwood Takes A Shot

Dax Harwood is a phenomenal professional wrestler, but he does talk about his family and this business rather a lot. You could ask him what he had for breakfast that morning and he'd start banging on about his legacy within seconds.

He does it so often that both MJF and Matt Jackson have ripped the piss out of him in televised promos for it. Neither was quite as funny as the above tweet, mind, which was fired off in response to Cash Wheeler's arrest. 'Aggravated Loving This Business' is such a funny collection of words, man.

37. The Worst Pounce Of All-Time

This feels like punching down, because both Kaia McKenna and Blair Onyx have all of four Cagematch pages between them, but funny is funny - and this pounce is shockingly bad. A move with all the impact of an episode of AEW Rampage, it's still more hard-hitting than half the stuff on NXT.

36. Brian Myers Pops The Boys

On a Q&A portion of his Major Wrestling Figures podcast earlier this year, Brian Myers was asked why he didn't run in when Bret Hart was attacked during the 2019 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony. His answer?

"My eardrums were popped and I couldn't hear because Aleister Black and Ricochet were clapping so loud for Hunter."

Myers conjured a hilarious mental image with that - the idea that Mally and Ricochet cared more about getting 22 minutes at a TakeOver more than the wellbeing of a pro wrestling legend.

"Yeah, Bret's had his health problems, but if we stop clapping we might not get enough time to get a 4.75!"
