Youve seen this situation before. Your favorite wrestler is hit with a submission move, and now hes lying in the middle of the ring with no place to go. He has to fight his way out of it, but the urge to tap is rising. Thats when the fans who support that wrestler get off their chants and yell please dont tap! at the top of their lungs. Maybe itll convince the wrestler to power his way out of the submission and win the match, or maybe itll just lead to disappointment for the fans. Either way, its always worth a try at least.
13. Ole!
Some fans may recognize this chant from watching matadors dodge the bulls charging at them, but the word actually has Arabic origins. It basically means bravo, and Spanish speaking competitors have adopted it as a way to address something that is very impressive. While Ole initially made its rounds in other sporting events, it eventually leaked into professional wrestling and thanks to guys like El Generico aka Sami Zayn, Ole has turned into an singsong chant that the fans recite whenever Sami needs some fan support. Los Matadores have also been receiving the Ole chant whenever El Torito shows off his moves.
12. NA NA NA NA, HEY HEY HEY, GOODBYE!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4Nh5_jN3rg This chant originated from the lyrics to a song by the 70s band Steam titled Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye. The song was in the Billboard Hot 100 charts at the time, and what stands out the most is the songs chorus which has since evolved into a unique sporting event experience. Whenever a heel wrestler is fired or quits WWE (kayfabe of course,) the fans will join in and sing the chorus while watching the heel wrestler flip out. Who would have thought that a songs chorus from the seventies would still be relevant in 2014 professional wrestling.
