50 MMA Fights You Must Watch Before You Die
44. Georges St-Pierre Vs. Matt Serra 1 - UFC 69
Everyone loves to watch an upset happen, especially when it happens to someone who is considered as an all-time great. The most shocking example of this in MMA is when Georges St-Pierre fought The Ultimate Fighter season four winner, Matt Serra.
As a Renzo Gracie black belt, Serra was known by fans for his great ground game, not his ability to knock opponents out. With St-Pierre having such a well-rounded skill-set and exceptional striking mechanics, many believed the champ would be able to stifle his opponent's game and finish him on the feet. However, things didn't quite go the way everyone planned.
Instead of initiating a grappling exchange, Serra went forward and took the fight to St-Pierre from the very first minute. Serra surprised everyone watching as he peppered GSP with strikes before flooring him with a devastating right hook. Sensing his opportunity to finish the fight, Serra jumped into the mount position and punished the champion with strikes from the top until the referee pushed him off.
