50 MMA Fights You Must Watch Before You Die

43. Chuck Liddell Vs. Tito Ortiz 1 - UFC 47

Before Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier created their own violent rivalry, the beef between UFC Hall of Famers, Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz, was the most intense the UFC's light heavyweight division had ever seen.

The two fighters had circled around each other for a year, with anticipation steadily building for the eventual battle between the two former training partners. With a shot at Randy Couture's 205lb title on the line, Liddell and Ortiz had everything to gain with a victory on the night.

The fight started off tentatively, as both men waited for their opponent to open up and make a mistake. Liddell, being the blood-thirsty fight-finisher that he is, landed the first major blow, cracking Ortiz with a head kick that felt like a warning signal than a kill shot.

Sadly for The Huntington Beach Bad Boy, he wasn't able to heed that warning, as Liddell started to open up with his attacks, landing a pinpoint accurate punch to his eye. With Ortiz's vision impaired, Liddell landed a devastating combination of strikes that made his arch enemy crumble to the Octagon mat.
