Edge spent the majority of the Attitude Era as a tag team wrestler, winning multiple Tag Team Championships and taking part in some of the most brutal matches in WWE history. But despite that being a fixture of his Attitude Era career, by 2002, things started taking a different and more positive turn.

Being one of the SmackDown Six, Edge shined as both a singles and tag team wrestler during 2002, improving his in-ring abilities dramatically over such a short period of time. Then, in 2005, following a heel turn, Edge captured lightning in a bottle when he won the MITB briefcase, and engaged in a real-life affair with Lita.

Moral questions aside, Edge became one of the most hated and vilified wrestlers in the entire company, a magnet for hostility that turned him into a huge star.

During the Ruthless Aggression Era, Edge transitioned from ‘glorified tag team wrestler’ to ‘World Champion’. He became a fantastic speaker who knew how to manipulate the audience, and his gloating and other mannerisms were pure gold.

People loved to hate him, especially when he went against certified fan favorites like John Cena, Matt Hardy, DX, and the Undertaker.
