15. Rock & Rowan Is So Odd

WWE WrestleMania Biggest Lie John Cena The Rock

Recently, some accounts on social media shared around a graphic boasting that The Rock hadn’t lost a match at WrestleMania since 2013. Yes, but he’s wrestled twice since then; once at ‘Mania 40 in a tag bout with Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins, and vs. Erick Rowan in a six second squash at ‘Mania 32 before that. It’s still so weird so many years on to see him in that setting, but hey - Rowan can always point to the fact he had a match with Rocky at WrestleMania.

File it under most random.

An awful lot of folks seem to have forgotten that The Rock warned Cody Rhodes he was coming back for him and his title on the post-WrestleMania 40 episode of Raw earlier in 2024. That left everything up in the air for WWE, and presumably means they'll book a belt-based showdown between the pair in the future, so expect Rocky's record to change soon enough. As always, it might even have happened by the time you check this lengthy piece out.

WWE felt they needed something to buffer between a 20-man Andre The Giant Memorial match (won by Baron Corbin) and the Roman vs. Triple H main event back in 2016. That's why Bray Wyatt's clan went nose to nose with The Rock, and it's why Rowan was selected ahead of Bray himself. Not many had this on their predictions lists before the pay-per-view aired, right enough.

What an oddity it is. Unlike Rock's antics in 2024, it honestly told us nothing about his immediate plans for the future. He was exclusively there to add star power and bag a nice payday for very little.
