50 Worst WCW Moments Ever
27. Starrcade 1997’s “Fast Pin”
A lot of folks might be surprised that this isn't higher up the list, but all 50 of these moments could switch around easily. Still, the so-called "fast count" on Sting at Starrcade 1997 really wasn't one at all. Nick Patrick used a standard cadence, which ruined the idea that the babyface had been screwed by a dastardly nWo plot.
As a result, Sting looked less like an all-conquering hero and more like a face-painted loser. Technically, before the Dusty finish stepped in to correct things, Hogan had scored a perfectly legitimate victory over his greatest rival. Sting won the title in the end, but the damage was done.
What was that about WCW sucking at finishes?
