50 Worst Wrestling Moments Of The 2020s (So Far)

35. Judgment Day Edge

Edge’s return run in general wasn’t great, was it?

The TLC matches were no joke. Coming back from such a major neck injury did in fact take a lot of grit. It would be dismissive to state that he isn’t tough.

Somewhere along the way, though, Edge/Adam Copeland/Cope forgot who he was. He was always at his best in the ring when he stressed his intelligence as a sly counter magician; outside of it, he excelled as a mischievous dude with a sense of humor about him. In AEW, he decided to become Jack Reacher. Was he ever “hard”, really?

In WWE, for a brief and laughably bad time, he decided to play a spooky character with a frankly ridiculous vocabulary. As the leader of the Judgment Day stable, which became infinitely more effective when he left it, he talked about judging AJ Styles atop his “mountain of omnipotence”. These nonsensical promos were so bad that he made Aleister Black sound like Ernest Hemingway.

Talking utter garbage every week, Edge wasn’t great in the ring, either. His series with AJ Styles was slow, mediocre, and not remotely memorable. Now, something worse than this has probably happened across the 2020s. Some hopeless NXT match or other. But Edge is meant to be a legend.

It was still an improvement on his 2020 output…
