50 Worst Wrestling Moments Of The 2020s (So Far)

34. The Finish To Adam Cole Vs. Chris Jericho

Adam Cole Vs. Chris Jericho from Double Or Nothing 2023 was poor and overlong. The Unsanctioned bout paled in comparison to AEW’s terrifying plunder match standard, and lacked the emotion and drama to compensate for the lack of violence.

Adam Cole, in the right spot and when he’s brimming with confidence, is great at what he does. He’s not feeling himself at present, which is a huge blow to his act as an incandescent world-beater. It doesn’t even matter that he’s an egregious thigh-slapper, or that his melodrama is a bit much: when Adam Cole is Adam Cole, he has “it” as a pro wrestling megastar.

He’s also the kind of guy who probably apologises to the enemies he kills in his beloved video games. “You’ll get me next time champ, you got this!”

He is not, nor will he ever be mistaken for, a vengeful badass who requires the intervention of a referee before he bludgeons somebody to death.

This, incredibly, was the finish to the match in Las Vegas. Adam Cole is the nicest guy in the world, and this was so bad that everybody audibly groaned at the poor guy.
