25. Ric Flair Invites Young Girls To His Hotel Room

In a bit that wasn’t too far removed from the stylings of Norm Macdonald, with its cracking misdirect, Tony Khan in April 2024 said that AEW was “like the Pepsi” of pro wrestling, while WWE was “more like the Harvey Weinstein”.

This jab would actually have landed, if Tony Khan didn’t have the nerve to sign Ric Flair and flog his mushroom-infused energy drink in October 2023. This badly undermined AEW’s smug, self-appointed role as the babyface company. Khan revealed himself to be a hypocrite.

Flair was a superfluous presence in the otherwise cracking Sting retirement storyline, and didn’t do much of anything. He was hurried off when the heat got to AEW and was brought back, which invariably happens, when it died down.

He did however act as Ric Flair in the meantime, because he doesn't know how to be anybody else. On Rampage, in a line that was edited out of the taped broadcast, he said “18-28, no boyfriends, meet me at my hotel room”.

The economy is bad - but not bad enough for anybody to take him up on the offer of a free rotting ham hock.
