9. Punk Shoots On WWE

When CM Punk left WWE we were left with a lot of questions. No one knew what was said behind that closed door meeting for months. Many fans either considered Punk a hero, or resented him for leaving without an explanation. Finally, over Thanksgiving, Punk gave his side of the story, and it cast a dark shadow on the WWE. It€™s hard to agree with everything Punk said in his interview with good pal Colt Cabana. First off, his ragging on WWE writers for never being in a real fight is stupid. Martin Scorsese makes great mob movies, and as far as I know he€™s never been in a gunfight. Also, Punk€™s claim that he should have made as much as The Rock did at WrestleMania seems absurd. With those statements aside, Punk had some pretty damning allegations against his former employers. He claimed his staph infection could have killed him, that Ryback was reckless, that he was under-paid, under-appreciated, rushed back into work before he was healed, and had a variety of broken promises. As much as WWE tries to portray themselves as great family entertainment, there€™s a much more sinister side to the business that still exists. Former top stars have used the analogy of wrestlers being treated like race horses. Basically, they are pushed and ridden until they can€™t go anymore. It looks like some things never change.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
