What do you do when youre the world champion of Ring of Honor? Why announce that youre going to attempt a career in major league baseball of course! Michael Elgin had a crazy year in wrestling. ROH finally put their world title on him, and then took it away in short order, which is not something the company does. It was Jay Briscoe of all people to dethrone him, which made it seem like something was up. Turns out the story was stranger than you could have imagined. Elgins visa ran out, so he was essentially stuck in Canada, unable to make his American dates for the company. He then went on Twitter and quit, because that's what adults do. Then he backtracked, and came back shortly after. Its still unclear what was a work and what was a shoot, but its hard to imagine a more disappointing fall from the top of the company than what Elgin went though in 2014.
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
