6 Candidates To Improve AEW's Commentary
4. Tony Schiavone
There really are so many great voices from WCW. Perhaps the greatest in the history of our sport one man might say. Tony Schiavone has stirred up controversy over the fact that he has appeared in some AEW video packages recently. This led to MLW (whom he is under contract with as an announcer) and their founder to issue a statement saying they were unaware. Could this mean a potential defection to AEW is in the works already?
Tony himself did mention previously that he felt he "Schiavonied" by not going to an event where Cody Rhodes and Tony Khan were in attendance. And the interesting thing about Court Bauer's statement was that he left an opening there for AEW to "reach out". After Schiavone had a brief stint of not appearing with MLW, perhaps both companies are willing to part. If a buy out is reached, there could even be enough time for Schiavone to lend a hand with MLW until we get our first AEW television show in October.
This would also mark the first time since the late '80s that Schiavone and Ross have been co-workers. And Ross has nothing but good words for the man. He recently praised his podcast and was quoted before as saying he "truly enjoyed working with" Tony and that he "was pivotal in my growth as a broadcaster". Why not make Jim happy and bring in his old friend?
