6 Crazy Stories Told By Jake Roberts On Piper's Pit
4. Satan At Survivor Series 1989
When Roberts teamed up with Hulk Hogan and Demolition - one of the all-time awesome foursomes - at the third annual supershow to take on the team of Ted DiBiase, Zeus and The Powers of Pain, Vince McMahon had an idea that Jake wasn't happy about. The WWE boss wanted Jake's teammates to help him carry the snake to the ring, and he thought to himself that would kill his gimmick and he couldn't let it happen. So he called the guy in charge of the snakes - Albert, "the freak, son of Charles Manson" - and demanded a snake so big it couldn't be carried. Albert responds to the request by delivering a creature named Satan: 26 feet long, 375 pounds. It busted open the crate it was being kept in and everyone fled while Albert tried to wrangle it, getting slammed on the ground in the process. Vince freaked out and put the kibosh on it, saving Jake's gimmick. Piper said he remembered it taking several guys to get Satan locked up again, including Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart, to which Roberts added that he himself was "busy."
