6 Cues The WWE Could Take From Lucha Underground

The upstart league is turning heads.

Last week the debut of the world€™s newest wrestling promotion, Lucha Underground, took the wrestling community by storm. Their premiere was met with glowing reviews by the online wrestling community and non-wrestling fans alike. Unlike every other wrestling show on TV, Lucha Underground is presented like a TV Drama or a Movie, in the sense that the backstage segments and matches are shot very cinematically and the story is contained within the fictional narrative and setting that they have created. It is not impacted by the extraneous forces of reality beyond the Lucha Undergound Arena. The decision to make their TV Show more akin to programs like The Blacklist and American Horror Story as opposed to Saturday Night Live and any sporting event is a curious one. One that no other televised wrestling show has every really tried. That being said, the gamble is yielding spectacular results. Their shows have an energy, an atmosphere unlike any wrestling show on TV, partially because they seem to be going out of their way not to be like any wrestling show on TV. It€™s only been two weeks, and they certainly aren€™t putting on a more extravagant show that the WWE does on a weekly basis, but the WWE could stand to take a few cues from upstart Lucha Underground. This week we€™ll dive into what those cues are, and why the WWE would only improve if they adopted some of Lucha Underground€™s philosophies. As always your comments are welcomed and encouraged. We want to know what you think! Now let€™s dive right into the 6 Cues WWE Should Take From Lucha Underground.
