6 NXT TakeOver: WarGames Predictions
3. Sane Wins, But Moon Shines
Vacant since August 24th, the NXT Women's Championship will finally get a new owner this Saturday night. Peyton Royce, Kairi Sane, Ember Moon, and Nikki Cross will fight for the belt, and while the victor will struggle to match the standards set by Asuka's epic reign, it should be a great bout.
Sane and Moon are both world-class, Cross isn't far behind them, and Royce, while relatively basic, is a perfectly competent worker herself. It'll be all action from bell-to-bell, and while any of these four could conceivably leave with the belt, Sane and Moon and the likeliest.
Ember's road towards the NXT Women's Championship has been a long, gruelling struggle. The former indie star came within a hair of toppling Asuka twice, but fell to underhand tactics on both occasions. Nonetheless, her quest for gold continues, and victory here would give her story a deserved happy ending.
Despite this, the case for Sane's triumph is stronger. Still cruising on her Mae Young Classic momentum, she's the biggest star in the division, and a welcome addition to a stacked talent pool. Her victory would be the perfect catalyst for a Moon heel turn, setting up a big singles match sometime in the future.
