6 Positives And 4 Negatives Heading Into WWE Survivor Series 2016

8. Negative — State Of The Union Address

Following this past week’s showing of Raw, a State of the WWE Universe address was staged between the Raw and SmackDown authority figures. Except, rather than discussing the more pressing issue at hand—this Sunday’s Survivor Series showcase—they instead chose to argue over who loves their brand more, which show’s been utilising its talent better and something about Stephanie McMahon and socks…

Simply put, this show was a train wreck, and not necessarily in the entertaining way.

A seemingly jet-lagged Shane spent much of the debate giving perplexed looks as he watched the madness unfold, Foley embarked on lengthy tirades answering questions that nobody had even asked him, and Stephanie was forced on countless occasions to try and save the show by diverting the attention back to the Survivor Series pay-per-view.

Ultimately we didn’t really learn much, and it just made the on-screen management teams look bad. Usually I’m all for these unscripted, line-blurring post-shows such as Talking Smack, but this time it just didn’t quite click. Too many cooks? Not enough direction? Probably a bit of both, but either way it didn’t make for a good recipe at all.
