6 Positives And 4 Negatives Heading Into WWE Survivor Series 2016
6. Positive — Multiple Elimination Matches
That being said, the additional hour of airtime to fill does mean that we have a pretty stacked card to look forward to. And one of the most notable—and welcome—features of that card is the triple dose of traditional Survivor Series elimination matches that will be contested over the course of the evening.
In recent years, Survivor Series’ heritage has become something of an afterthought. Not since 2009 have we seen a show with more than two elimination matches, and many of those shows featured just one sole elimination bout.
This time around though, we’ll be seeing a healthy amount of elimination action, much like in the early days of the Survivor Series PPV. Also, these aren’t your usual hurriedly-assembling multi-man bouts; each one has had plenty of thought put into it, and each of the men’s, women’s and tag team matches includes the respective brand’s divisional champion.
All in all, it’s a nice throwback to the set-up that made Survivor Series great in the first place, as opposed to squishing the elimination matches into the early stages of the show to make way for the more important world title clashes.
