Truth be told, I spent a fair old while deciding whether to not to list this is as a positive or a negative. In the end, I’ve decided to appease my inner-Attitude-Era-child and embrace the revelation that Shane O’Mac will once again step foot in a WWE ring, when he takes to the trenches as a part of Team SmackDown at Survivor Series.

I could certainly see how people would look upon this negatively. Not only is he a part-timer, he’s not even the biggest-drawing part-timer (cough, Undertaker, cough), while it also seems a little hypocritical of an authority figure to thrust himself into the spotlight given that SmackDown has been predicated on being the land of opportunity.

All that aside though, it was a major announcement that certainly popped the Glasgow crowd on SmackDown last week, and there’s a reason it was received so warmly. After all, this is a guy who risked it all at WrestleMania 32 to pull off one of the most ridiculous stunts in WWE history.

Plus, the fact that it’s a slightly questionable choice to make up the numbers on Team SmackDown does open up the possibility that it’s all a ruse, and that someone else will in fact be taking his place come Sunday. The aforementioned Deadman springs to mind, or even a certain Joe from Samoa…
