6 Positives And 4 Negatives Heading Into WWE Survivor Series 2016
2. Positive — The Toronto Crowd
This may be another slightly more subjective entry, but I do honestly believe that staging the PPV in Toronto can only be a good thing.
For starters, there’s an absolute ton of history between Canada and Survivor Series. I’m sure I don’t need to go into the gory details of that Montreal Screwjob from 1997…
As well as that though, this will be the first WWE PPV to take place in Toronto in more than a decade. Not since Unforgiven 2006 has the company returned to the Air Canada Centre, and prior to that there’ve only been three other Toronto PPVs, by my humble calculations; WrestleMania VI in 1990, WrestleMania X8 in 2002 and SummerSlam of 2004.
Obviously that sucks for Toronto that they’ve been so regularly shunned by WWE, but selfishly it may be a good thing for us neutrals. Cities, and indeed countries, that are starved of live events usually make up for it when a show does roll around—I guess I’m biased, but I’d say that the UK are a pretty great example of this in action.
It may be a little presumptive, but I’m banking on a hot crowd from Toronto this Sunday—and surely that can only be a good thing for the overall spectacle of the show?
